Description

Carol Bornstein is a well-respected horticulturist, educator, writer, and garden designer. She is regarded as an expert on California native plants. In 1981, Carol became the plant propagator at the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, working with Dara Emery, plant breeder. In 1989, she became the Garden’s first director of horticulture. 

Carol was interviewed by Oral History Program Volunteer Carol Weingartner in January of 2021, and the illustrated transcript was published in 2022.
